'Green Lantern' Trilogy Coming Your Way + Our Possible Scenarios

Word is Warner Brothers recently gave the okay on three Green Lantern movies, which is surprising news considering the first one has barely begun filming. With the producers listing Geoff Johns’ stories as the primary influence, you would think they are leaning toward a Secret Origin/Sinestro Corps/Blackest Night trilogy, but the budget for the latter two story lines would be enormous. Plus, the synopsis that has been released for the first movie has little relation with the universe Johns created. Still though, we can always speculate on what direction the trilogy will take, as well as ones we wish for. Here are several ideas we’ve thought of:

A Modified Secret Origin/Sinestro Corps/Blackest Night - Get rid of Hal becoming Parallax, and make the entity an actual physical being. Sinestro gets corrupted by it at the end of movie one, and leaves to form his Corps. Movie two would be the war between the two factions, with the exclusion of Superman Prime, the Anti-Monitor, and the Cyborg Superman. Not including anything else, this movie would be amazing simply because of the battle between Mogo and Ranx. There would not be a winner in the war as the other corps intervene, leading to a Green Lantern focused Blackest Night in movie three. That means no honorary Corp members, it would take too long to explain the stories of Mera, The Flash, The Atom, etc.

Krona Goes Wild - Krona creates the multiverse, resulting in appearances of other DC characters. Movie one could end with the creation of the multiverse. Movie two could then introduce the ‘other Earth’ Green Lanterns, which is a convenient way to bring in John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner without much back story. Plus, this will allow any character in the DC Universe to be available. With all of those pieces in place, movie three could be a Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Anti-Monitor could be this unstoppable force, until an Ion powered Hal Jordan saves the day.

The Rainbow Warriors - This would be a slight deviation from the Modified Secret Origin/Sinestro Corps/Blackest Night idea. The difference appears in movie number two, which would be infighting between all of the color Corps rather than just the Green Lanterns and Sinestro Corps. Since Parallax is already confirmed, movie two could serve as an introduction to the entities. Not to get all Dragon Ball Z on this, but movie three could have a fusion of all the entities to create the white light.

Hector Hammond and the Cranium of Doom - This is the biggest question mark. What role does Hammond have in the movies? He is confirmed for movie one, but there has been no news about what he actually does. Since Geoff Johns has been teasing him in the comics for like six years now, it’s anyone’s guess to how he will be used. The way he seems to know everything that is going on, it’s probably a safe bet that he will end up being the ultimate evil. But what could he want? Growing a few feet? Hair? Those things aren’t necessarily causes where the fate of the Universe is risked. Then again, when it comes to hair…

Those Bastard Guardians - It always comes back to them. They are the ones that cause more problems than they fix. Movie number one will be them being their usual emotionless dicks, but in the end, it is revealed they were the ones who created Parallax to tame the universe. Turns out they haven’t abandoned all emotions, as they are egotistical and believe themselves to be Gods of the Universe, with the Green Lanterns being a new experiment since Parallax, the Man Hunters, and several other forces have failed in their eyes. After Sinestro goes rogue, they decide the Green Lanterns belong in this failed group and they develop a new plan. They will stop creating new forces, but instead end the existence of all living beings. That means movie three would be the Corps against their creators. Emerald fury on Oa.
