Witchblade To Cut Across Big Screen

Scantily clad and ready to stab…

It has been announced in Variety that Platinum Studios, Top Cow Productions, and Arclight Films are teaming up to develop the Top Cow superheroine, Witchblade, for a live-action theatrical release.

The Witchblade mythology "centers on an ornate jewel-encrusted gauntlet that gives extraordinary powers to the wearer, a specially chosen female from each generation."

In addition to publication as a monthly comic since 1995, the character has already seen incarnations as a weekly series on TNT and as an anime TV series in Japan.  A DVD release of the TNT series is forthcoming.

This is Top Cow's second foray into adapting their comics for film, the first is next month's Wanted.
