'The Green Hornet' Has Moved!

By Zombiezeus on 07.02.2009

According to Superherohype.com, Columbia Pictures, the studio releasing Seth Rogen’s pet project "The Green Hornet", has moved the release date from June 25, 2010 to July 9, 2010. Why has it moved? Because the studio has decided to release "Grown Ups" on that date instead. "Grown Whatnows"? You may be asking…

It’s a comedy starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Salma Hayek, and some other people, and unless it’s totally stupid, it’s going to be huge. Those are some really big names, and America seems to like its comedies about man-children, and this movie is going to be squarely in that mold:

"Sandler wrote the screenplay with "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" screenwriter Fred Wolf. The high-concept story is a comedy about five best friends from high school who reunite 30 years later on a Fourth of July weekend.

The five actors have worked together on a number of comedies, though never all on the same project."

Is this a big deal? Is it going to hurt "The Green Hornet"’s chances at success? I say "Absolutely".

It’s going to be a hard sell in the first place–resurrecting a little-known pseudo-super-hero from a TV series, starring a formerly-flabby actor known for his comedies, and dropping it in the middle of a crowded summer isn’t the best idea any way you slice it. And to compound its troubles, some box office heavy-hitters are going to be releasing around it: "Toy Story 3" the week before, and the second "Twilight" the week after.

This movie has been nothing but plagued from the beginning. I’ll be SHOCKED if it does well, but I hope that it does. What say you, Geek Brethren?

I'm sure I'll see Grown Ups. I'm a sucker! But I'm hoping to enjoy The Green Hornet more! "HOPING, not expecting!" Keeping my faith alive though.

Who cares if it's successful or not as long as it doesn't suck. Which I'm still a little wary of.

Rogen is great and I can't wait to see him in action. Pineapple Express was fantastic, and shows that he can be as good of an action star as a comedy star. I'm excited for Green Hornet
