"Watchmen" Traded for Original "Batman"?

As any intrepid fan knows by now, The Watchmen movie is being held up by litigation over the rights to the movie because of contracts signed back in the early '90's. Fox is suing the Warners and trying to bar release of the film.

However, there may be more to this story than meets the eye (No, this has nothing to do with Transformers: Rise of the Fallen fanboy, so stow it). Apparently, Fox wants the rights to distribute…

Wait for it…

The 1960's Batman television series. Fox has the rights to the footage, but Warner Bros. has the license to the characters and trademarks through DC Comics. Perhaps this is the trade that could get Watchmen out of limbo…

In my humble opinion, Warner Bros. needs to jump all over this, if it is indeed a real deal. Potentially this could be, paraphrasing the immortal words of "Comic Book Guy":

Best. Trade. Ever.
