A Basterd As A... Lizard?

Via: The Playlist Rumor has it Sony is interested in securing the star of Inglorious Basterds, Christoph Waltz, for the role of a villain in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot. If true, it’s assumed this courtship would be for the Lizard character that his Basterd co-star Michael Fassbender turned down in favor of playing Magneto in X-Men: First Class. Waltz seems to have the face for what I’d imagine the Lizard would look like and is an immensely talented thespian. When Stephen Chow dropped out from The Green Hornet, I had lost interest in seeing it. Choosing Gondry as his replacement restored a little hope but getting Waltz to replace Nicolas Cage as the bad guy made it interesting again. He would be great as the Lizard. With that being said, don’t hold your breath for this one. Yes, he’s already capitalized on the star-making Jew Hunter performance by landing work in more mainstream films with Gondry and Paul W.S. Anderson (The Three Musketeers). However, if it’s a paycheck he seeks then Marvel isn’t the company he wants to work for. Plus, I would think that he’d be sick of playing the villain by now. I wonder whom they turn to if Waltz says no too – maybe another Basterds actor? I know – Eli Roth! Not.
