Marvel Screwed Itself and Favreau Too
By Jamel Ingram
on 08.09.2010
The basic motif of this once fairy tale union turned bad is money. Mr. Jon Favreau made Iron Man a masterpiece. In effect, interest was jumpstarted back into Marvel’s properties almost how The Dark Knight did for D.C. Everyone forgot the mistake of Spider-Man 3 and hope seemed promising for more Marvel masterpieces like Favreau’s Iron Man. Though, as time drew near for the development of Iron Man 2 Favreau wanted more money. Marvel said no, at first, but gave in later. However as a sly balancing of power Marvel decided to decrease Favreau’s control over the Iron Man 2 storyline, and decided to have the story focus on the Avengers angle more so than Tony himself. This is why Iron Man 2 sucked, because of Marvel – enough said. Thank you Marvel for the nice screw job…on yourself. Good luck with Iron Man 3 if Favreau even decides to do business with you again. Oh, yeah, I hope 2012’s Avengers goes well (Joss Whedon, you’re cool) because I guarantee Favreau would probably give that movie 100 times more badassness (editorial leeway) than Whedon could (again Whedon I love you).
