Nick Fury Writer Talks 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Movie

By Daniel Woizinski on 08.10.2010

While it seems that anyone who’s shown their face in a Marvel comic book is getting the blockbuster treatment these days, I’d never have thought Nick Fury would manage to get his own yarn on the silver screen. However, when a company changes a character’s entire likeness to parallel his on-screen counterpart, what could I expect? For a secondary character? Even Sam ‘Goddamn’ Jackson doesn’t warrant that. And so here we are, with MovieWeb’s confirmation that the S.HI.E.L.D. movie is on its way. Here’s an interview they got with Andrew W. Marlowe, who wrote the script for the film.

Marlowe seems to know the in and outs of Fury and the S.H.I.E.L.D. people, as he should, and though there have been some hitches along the way, Marvel has shown it has a clear-cut direction it’s taking with its franchises. I trust them to give us an introduction to Fury that serves a purpose and involves all kinds of badassery, which Jackson has never missed an opportunity to do.

indomitable
They didn't change Nick Fury to match the on-screen version. Main Universe Nick Fury still looks like he always did. They started drawing the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury as a black man during his first appearance, and as Samuel L. Jackson when Ultimates started up back in 2002.

Nick Fury is getting a movie, he's getting ANOTHER movie. The Hoff played him like 10 years ago, and when the ULTIMATES booted they asked Sam Jackson for permission to use his likeness.
