Say what you will, But i firmly believe that Efron can get past the HSM stigma and excel in some good roles... good roles like the upcoming Spider-Man reboot... And Bendis is totally on board with Efron in Fire, he talks about it on twitter and he is the one getting this project rolling, so I dont think he's too upset over the casting or worried his project will be raped, much like the ultimate universe was... Zac Efron For Spider-Man!!

hey, he might be able to act pretty well, but this movie hes going to do isn't fucking newsies. to pull it off he's going to have to be gritty and ruthless or its going to blow ass, maybe when hes 28 and doesn't have dancing shoes then he can do something like this.

It's always apparent when a persons own personal agenda comes into place. Things happen at that point where they paint a portrait of a person to fit their own view of that person. This is not a flattering photo of the kid at all. I agree with that. But he is genuine and funny and can act very well.

Bale is a GREAT BATMAN. But he didn't get handed the role, yeah he was a newsie, which is nowhere near as gay as HSM, but before Batman he also did AMERICAN PSYCHO, killed dragons, and was in Equilibrium. Only THEN was he handed a major franchise, 13 years later. OH, AND, before Newsies he was in EMPIRE OF THE SUN. So Disney didn't create him like Efron.

Personally I like Kyle Gallner. He was a serial killer on both VERONICA MARS and THE SHIELD. He also played Impulse on SMALLVILLE. But let me just get something clear, I'm not against casting an unknown, they start at 0. The only reason I'm against 'F-Ron' is he has to work his way back up to 0. I feel his previous roles preclude him, but I'm not a casting agent...

There are so many things wrong with the Spider-Man movies. The first movie, all of those crazy flips in the hallway in front of the students. The whole scene while visiting the spider lab. Flash Thompson was a horrible choice. Green Goblins instant insanity. Should have been gradual. I have seen the movie like 20 times and then took a long break, after seeing it again last night I found myself hating it. Not to mention the eyes on Spidey were way too small. After Lee Marvin and the other guys we had 'Rambo' syndrome, a new phase in action movies. Muscle bound actors like Schwarzenegger and Stalone took over for the more 'everyday' badasses like Charles Bronson, and a new era in film began. And it was still good, but the last 10-15 years, as Arnold and Sly got older no one took there place.

The perfect example is the evolution of James Bond. Connery chain-smoked, drank all the time, and slapped women when need be. Moore, was like Connery-lite: Less smoking, less drinking, less slapping, more comedy. Then look at Brosnan, rarely drinks, never smokes, and can't slap a bitch. Bond needed his reboot.

Where are the men in film anymore? I'm afraid that propping Effron up, along with the twilight kids, just makes it easier to kill good old fashion masculinity. Never again will we get another John Wayne, Steve McQueen, or Clint Eastwood. You know, action stars who were cast because they were real men.

So now we get these shitty, mass produced little bitches as action heroes. I hate it. Where is our generation's Bogart? How come we don't have a Charlie Bronson? Guys who you would actually not want to fuck with, but could see yourself drinking with at the bar. War vets who smoke & drink scotch & drive muscle cars. Not Disney bi-products who travel with bodyguards to protect them from teenage girls.

Actually, I am inclined to agree with Kronner on this. We are feminizing our masculine heroes. Case in point, when was the last time you saw a male lead other than our all-singing, all-dancing wolverine with actual chest hair? The closest I have seen to a true masculine hero in films recently has been Denzel Washington in The Book of Eli.

I agree with Dr. Kronner about the masculinity dying out. Heroes used to be tough and older men now they gotta be effeminate and young. It also has a lot to do with Japan's influence and anime. Studies have also been done to show that women nowadays prefer these types of guys, there's biology behind it about settling down with a mate and all but anyways yeah.
