A 'Quantum Leap' Movie?

This might seem like a ca-ca idea to some, but Scott Bakula recently told a crowd at Comic-Con that a movie based on the once popular series, Quantum Leap, is now being worked on by show creator Donald P. Bellisario. During “A Leap of Faith - A Quantum Leap Retrospective”, Bakula also mentions the interest of a “big time Hollywood producer”; and laments how he and Dean Stockwell have now grown too old to play the original characters. However, he does believe they would make an appearance in some capacity.

I grew up a big fan of Leap and really enjoyed its feel good vibe. The occasional brush with historical events was somewhat cheeky, but always enjoyable – and Al was one of the more funny characters in the pantheon of television sidekicks. I agree that they are now too old to reprise their roles and this would have been great ten years ago. As it stands, this is only moderately exciting news because so much of what made the show wonderful was how great the two were together.

There was also mention of a Syfy reboot a while back but it’s unsure if they’re related. At least the show’s original creator is tackling the script. Hopefully, everything goes according to Bakula’s plan and this big time producer likes what he reads. It would be welcomed to have a Quantum Leap movie to look forward to. Maybe Sam could even leap into Stephanie Meyer and stop her from unleashing the scourge she’s beset upon our pop culture. Oh boy, what a dream.

I too loved this show when it was on. I even remember seeing Jennifer Aniston in one of the earlier episodes! Loved how Al was always yelling at Gushy (Gooshie?) like James Kirk was always yelling at Scotty.

The show was indeed great. However without Scott and Dean it won't be the same.
