Bryan Singer Wants The "X" Back

By Christopher Brown on 10.13.2009

Director Bryan Singer wants another crack at the X-Men. As we all know, he was responsible for the first two extremely successful titles. Singer was recently quoted by THR as saying:

"I’m still looking to possibly returning to the X-Men franchise. I’ve been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast."

After the mess that was X3, and of course, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there’s definitely room for a redux/resurrection of the franchise, perhaps with some new direction, new characters…anything to give the franchise a breath of fresh air. After all, if Fantastic Four can get a re-reboot in less than ten years time, why can’t X-Men?

Give it back to Singer. He started the superhero movie craze... well him and Raimi, if he gets control back, the XMen franchise will be able to continue, which I'm sure Fox would be happy about, since there are more XMen characters than all other comic characters put together.

No need for a reboot. 50% percent of the X-Men movies have been good so if they continue with what they've got maybe we can turn X-3 and Wolverine into lost memories.

Would be good to see him at the helm again. Just re-watched the first X-men and enjoyed it thoroughly (I think it's the best one by a mile). I hate how The Last Stand and Wolverine were just introducing new characters for the hell of it, and not really developing them meaningfully.

Meh. I don't dislike Singer's work but I'm not really a fan, either. I am comfortable saying that X-1 was not a bad movie but I struggle with calling a good one. It was okay. X-2 wasn't any better and there were parts I really didn't like at all. On the other hand I liked X-1 much more than I liked X-3 and as superhero movies go it could have been much worse (Batman & Robin, The Spirit, etc.).

The first two X-men weren't that great either. I just liked the style. Ratner needs to be tied by his nutsack to an overfilled hot air balloon. Aside from that, the bottom line is that Singer FUCKED up Nightcrawler six ways from Sunday. Nightcrawler has short indigo fur all over his body and FULL yellow eyes. Singer did get the Bamf right but man, I was so unhappy with Nightcrawler and therefor am angry at Singers performance as a result.

MUNKRAWK ... I'm sorry, but I fail to see how the make-up/costume for Nightcrawler is Singers fault. There's a whole department to blame for that if that is your beef. I personally loved Nightcrawler in X2. If you have that problem with him then way aren't you upset about Mystique? Why does she seem to have scales? Why isn't she wearing clothes? Just sayin'... I'd say that Colossus is the big fuckup. He shoulda been Russian and used more.

But I'm not holding Singer responsible ... their are larger powers involved and at work for the mistakes in these areas. I say let Singer come back.

X2 is awesome. Nightcrawler was awesome. Singer did awesome on APT PUPIL and USUAL SUSPECTS, give it back to him. You gotta remember, when X-Men came out, it was the first good Marvel movie ever.

Dr. K, I believe you've overlooked something: Blade was the first good Marvel movie. People tend to forget that; just goes to show some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill.

The director approves the design concept. Yeah Mystique sucked too but Nightcrawler is my favorite X-Man so that got under my skin a little more. Anyways I know the studios are to blame, hence my avatar.

BLADE is good, but X-MEN changed comic movies. Many people didn't even know BLADE was a comic book. It was after X-MEN's 54 million dollar opening weekend that all the other movies were green-lit.

Does anyone else think that it wouldbe funny if they let Singer make X-men 3: The Director's Cut and it just began with them getting off of a plane from Austrailia and Storm has a mohawk?

Hmm, when It comes to comic movies on not that big on the ole Singer bandwagon. Especially after Superman Returns. I do really like his nonComic films Apt Pupil and Usual Suspects but to me the X movies where bitter sweet. Though I loved the visuals I really didn't like the mash up of all the characters like Rouge acting like Jubilee, Ice man being young, the weapon x project got confusing, Sabertooth being a big muscle head. with all these plot twists its no wonder Ratner had little to paint w

why not give it back to Singer? The only real turd he's done was superman and he already knows the series. They could do a lot worst..
