Cameron Diaz in Talks For 'Green Hornet'

By GuardianOfChaos on 07.09.2009

The Green Hornet is a beloved super hero show from the 1940’s who would eventually get a 1960’s live action series based on the character.   The story revolved around a newspaper publisher who becomes a crime fighting vigilante by night.  He’s accompanied by his manservant and martial arts expert Kato and together they battle crime with a super advanced car, stun guns, and hand to hand skills.

Seth Rogen is currently working on developing a remake of the film for release in July of 2010.  Entertainment Weekly reports that Cameron Diaz is currently in talks to play the female lead in the Green Hornet film.  Though this hasn’t been made official yet, the possibility could only add to the interest generated by the movie already.

I hope the movie doesn’t get too silly with Seth Rogen at the helm.  While not a particularly dramatic and dark series, The Green Hornet also wasn’t a comedic series.  We’ll have to wait and see how this develops in the future.

Since it's creation in the 40's, and it's TV incpetion in the 1960's, many original fans have cesed to care. I'd be willing to bet that the new movie will be near unreognizable. There aren't enough fans of the original to demand loyalty to the original. I want to see it, but I fear it's gonna be a letdown.

I am not at all excited for this movie. I don't think it should be in Seth Rogans hands. But whatever like I usually say. If it sucks then no big loss.

I love the old 1930's Radio shows... The 40's serials are pretty cool too, but I wasn't ever into the 60's series. It just didn't feel right to me, just a personal taste choice, I guess. The Comics are solid, especially the early ones. Good pulp reading. I am expecting a comedy/action film out of this and I am actually pretty excited about it. I love Seth Rogan. However, I hope Cameron Diaz isn't in it. Not a fan of hers at all.

Anyone remember The Shadow or The Phantom? This will probably be in that caliber. Remember the green hornet was popular on radio. The TV show lasted a handfull of episodes and was mostly notable as the first real american appearance of Bruce Lee. Excited? Nope.
