Fox Picks Up Millar's 'Nemesis'

It’s being reported that Tony Scott has been hired to direct, but there have been no announcements concerning screenwriters, actors, or even a date to start production. The bigger question is how faithful they plan to be with the source material? Will this be a Wanted style butchering in order to make it somewhat appealing to the masses, or will they just use minor tweaks like they did with Kick-Ass? So what does Tony Scott mean to Nemesis? Violence? Check. Intense action scenes? Check. Camera’s rotating around the main character every fifteen seconds? Let’s hope not. From what has happened so far in the two issues that have been released, you have to imagine some form of cleaning up will take place. It will be interesting to see what wins out, Millar’s current popularity or the studio’s desire to mass market. This is a book that glorifies police murder, which may not draw the same crowds that ‘teenage vigilante’ Kick-Ass did. Honestly, it would be nice to just get issues of Nemesis released regularly. The Kick-Ass method of one issue every five months is getting old. If the story is completed enough that they can pitch it to Fox and have them buy it, then it should be no problem to have a monthly release. 13 Comments
