G.I. Joe Resolute Trailer! Airs TONIGHT!

By Zombiezeus on 04.17.2009
It's the day we've all been waiting for.

-->

G.I. Joe fans are some of the most loyal and devoted on the planet. We clamored for the 25th Anniversary figures when they became available and re-invigorated the 3 3/4" action figure line to within…oh…four inches or so…of its heights of former glory. Marvel and DC followed suit and released lines of figures in the same scale and somewhere along the way, the live action movie was greenlit to much fanfare.

Sensing that its fans wouldn't–some might say couldn't–be satisfied with the live action feature, Hasbro decided to pay their fan backs a little by taking a step back, realizing the majority of us are in our late 20's/early 30's and said: "We should make something for them. Something that reflects their more-mature tastes and sensibilities while paying homage to the characters and the world they grew up with." And so, "G.I. Joe: Resolute" was born.

Announced what seems like ages ago, this was the sort of thing Joe fans have always wanted; a relatively-realistic depiction of badass covert soldiers taking on badass terrorist nutjobs, written by a guy who is hands-down THE premiere badass comic writer working today: Warren Ellis.

It was as if Hasbro understood us in a way we didn't think possible–certainly in a way that is impossible for bloated-budget, need-to-be-kid-friendly-Hollywood. Could it be that we were finally getting what we wanted and felt we deserved? Could it be that G.I. Joe was actually going to be legitimately COOL?!!

Well folks, the wait is just about over. The first episode in a ten-episode webseries premieres TODAY on adultswim.com. All of the episodes, combined into an hour-and-a-half animated movie, will then air on Adult Swim (y'know, Cartoon Network at night) April 25th at midnight.

Yo Joe, indeed.
