Homemade 1940's Style Batmobile

By Christopher Brown on 08.11.2008

While scouring the internet for cool stuff to share with you guys, we ran across this gem. Someone out there has constructed a homemade version of the 1940's Batmobile…out of a Volkswagon Bug. First, the original (albeit in toy form):

And now, the homemade version:

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what to think here. Was someone just having some fun, or was this a serious attempt? Unfortunately, this is like a Phantom Batmobile…there's literally NO information on this thing at all…so it's really hard to make a true judgment about it. I'll leave it up to you guys to decide what you think.

I see the logic behind it, at least… but I have to admit, I don't think Batman would've had the same fear inducing effect had he rolled up in a VW Bug. Can you imagine?

Two armed criminals just pulled off a bank heist, and jump into their getaway car. They're speeding away, evading the cops, when all of a sudden, a dark shape appears behind them.

Robber 1: What is THAT?

Robber 2: I don't know…

Robber 1: Oh no. It's…it's…the BATBUG!

No…I don't think that would have worked at all.

PS: Is that a homemade Bumblebee next to it?
