Jeremy Renner Will Star with Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible 4'

Thanks to the folks over at ComingSoon.net, it’s been confirmed that Jeremy Renner has signed on for a role in Mission: Impossible 4. He’ll star alongside Tom Cruise - who is also producing with J.J. Abrams - in the franchise’s fourth installment. Brad Bird will direct and filming is set to begin sometime this fall. Hot off his Oscar-nominated performance in The Hurt Locker, Renner had already landed another high profile role earlier this year as Hawkeye in The Avengers. He can also be seen next in Ben Affleck’s upcoming heist drama The Town, which comes out this September. Renner is a curious choice because there was speculation that Abrams and Cruise were looking to cast someone younger. With Cruise just a couple years shy of 50, the idea was to find someone who could possibly take over in a potential reboot. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore because Renner turns 40 early next year. Prior to signing on for Mission: Impossible, there were also rumors of Renner possibly joining the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s next project, The Master. He would have been a solid addition but it doesn’t look like it’ll happen now considering both projects are set to begin production this fall. Oh well.
