Johnny Depp as Tonto in Disney's "The Lone Ranger "

Walt Disney Studios Showcase was on Wednesday, September 24th, and apparently it was quite the spectacle.

One of the biggest announcements followed USC's Marching Band, which entered playing the theme to The Lone Ranger , heralding the announcement that a remake was on its way. On the screen, the Lone Ranger logo appeared, and when the screen lifted, someone was dressed in full Ranger gear on a white horse.

After they galloped off, the announcement was made that Disney had not chosen a Ranger as yet, but several candidates were in talks. However, at that moment, Jack "Pirates of the Carribean" Sparrow stepped out in a black Lone Ranger mask and carrying a revolver. When "Sparrow" removed the mask, it was none other than

JOHNNY DEPP.

Apparently, Johnny Depp is slated to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger.

Additionally, Depp is already signed on for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland as The Mad Hatter (perfect fit) and will be doing yet another Pirates movie as well.

Looks like he'll be pretty busy from here on!

Now, I do have to wonder, on a personal note, whether it was completely impossible to find a Native American actor to play Tonto…?
