Justice League Returns to Smallville

Source: TV Guide

Smallville's 8th season, the first season without creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, begins with a return of the fledgling Justice League, as they search for Clark Kent, who vanished at the end of last season after battling Lex Luthor at the Fortress of Solitude

"Luckily [Al and Miles'] voices are still talking to us in our heads as we're breaking stories," says Kelly Souders, who is running the show with Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. "Their visions come to us all the time, so I think they did a great job of preparing us for this day."

We can expect 12 episodes this season with Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Justin Hartley), who will be responsible for recruiting Aquaman and Black Canary to join the search for Clark. We'll also see the appearance of the Martian Manhunter.

Once Clark returns, we'll finally begin to see the mythos of Superman we all know and love, with Kent working at the Daily Planet across from Lois Lane, trying to maintain the appearance of normalcy while living a double life as a super hero.

"The camaraderie as they work side-by-side that everyone loves from the DC Comics and all the Superman lore is going to come to fruition this year," Souders says. "The two of them are thrown together in some unfortunate situations for Clark. She becomes a little bit of an obstacle to him saving the world, when he's on a deadline."

Hopefully, in spite of the show's creators leaving, this season will be a new chapter in the already great saga of Smallville.
