Marvel's Next MovesSource: Yahoo Business After an amazing opening weekend for Iron Man, grossing $100.75 Million domestic, the second best original movie debut ever (second only to Spider-Man), and a worldwide gross thus far of $201 million, Marvel announces its next feature films. Are you ready for some face meltingly good news? Iron Man will have a sequel, Thor is expected to release Summer 2010, and not one, but two Avengers-themed movies are slated for 2011. Iron Man 2 is already slated for an April 30, 2010 release date, and will follow immediately with Thor on June 4, 2010 (much like the Iron Man and Incredible Hulk back to back releases). The two Avengers titles to follow the next year will be tentatively titled: The First Avenger: Captain America, and The Avengers in May and June 2011, respectively. Also released are the upcoming projects Marvel has in development and/or production. Live action: Ant-Man, Punisher War Zone, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Animated TV: Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Hulk: Gamma Corps, Super Hero Squad. Animated DVD Release: Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Hulk Vs., Thor: Son of Asgard, Planet Hulk. Live Stage: Spider-Man: The Musical (WTF?!? Then again, if they can do it with Evil Dead…) It seems the House of Ideas is doing big things in the coming years, and comic fans will be reaping some fantastic benefits…
