MAXIM covers Marvel

By Brian Kronner on 08.24.2009

MAXIM’s September ’09 issue with Milla Jovovich on the cover not only gives us some awe-inspiring shots of one of our favorite Geek-Goddesses, but also something maybe even more interesting…

What follows is an oral history of Marvel comics from the men who made it what it is now. It’s scathing, bitter, and revealing. Including comments from Stan Lee, Joe Simon, John Romita Jr, Chris Claremont, Frank Miller, Todd Macfarlane, and many of more of the biggest names in comics. I suggest setting aside a few minutes to read this, you might be surprised by what’s there.

Check it out in it’s full glory here! When you’re done, come on back and share your thoughts in our comments.

Dammit sully you beat me to it. I was gonna say the same thing haha. But its amazing how much drama there is in the comics business what with all the legal battles and all.

Well, first off, I saw Maxim and Oral and I got my hopes up. But this quote at the end is fantastic. Marvel and DC are my divorced mom and dad. DC is my stable, loving, nurturing mom. Marvel is my weird dad who lives in a condo and doesn’t know how to cook, but he’ll let you stay up until three in the morning watching RoboCop 2. - Brian K Vaughan

anybody read The Boys? I'm guessing The Legend is good ole Stan and I love how Ennis likes to shit on everybody, it's funny as hell

That was an interesting article, its easy to read the storylines and criticize some of them, but at the time i sure wasnt thinking about what may or not be happeining in the offices or between writers. It was always about the comics, not the writers. I think this article may put things into a new perspective for some people. @SILLYSULLY, Maxim and Oral, hilarious

Yeah, I thought so. I originally had an 18 page artical with pictures and everything for this, but it was too big so we scrapped it in favor of ust link the source. But I thought this was great, alot of tension towards Jim Shooter...

@MexiJoe, The Boys is my SHIT! Hands down my favorite book out right now...and you know they based The Legend on Stan "The Man" Lee!
