Megan Fox Might Be The Next Buffy?

This is all unconfirmed so far, but there’s a bit of new buzz around that “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” sequel that we reported on a couple of weeks ago. The latest? Well, that Megan Fox is the name being thrown around behind the scenes to portray the next big screen Slayer.
CineFools broke the news two days ago and the reactions have been varied. Many from the Buffy fandom are face-palming, some are already working up a good tizzy, but then, they were also the ones petitioning against the new Slayer flick before it was even confirmed that one was in the works. So make of that what you will. Others are tweaking over the news, because…Megan Fox is hot and the more movies people see her in the better, I guess? Now, I’m a fan of the Buffy series, and the movie in its own cheesy right. By fan, understand that I mean I own the box set, I collect the comics; I even play the D20 RPG from time to time. However, I do not give Whedon a free pass on all things in life for giving Buffy to the world, I don’t call myself a Whedonite, and I believe that someone else may do well with the Buffy-verse if given the chance. So, keeping all of that in mind… Fox (and I hate to say this because she appears to be dumb as a box of very dumb things and happy to be so, and that’s a bugbear of mine) may work well in the role. She’s perky and cute enough to be sure, and she can do action flicks passably enough. However, I can’t say I believe in her ability to carry a film on her own, nor do I think she’s got the acting chops to handle the often heavy themes in the Slayer’s universe. One thing’s for damn sure though, I’m not going to sit down on one side of this or the other until there’s actual, concrete news, and I advise the rest of the fandom to do the same. What I would like to see, however, is your idea of a dream cast (keeping in mind they aren’t using old characters) for the Slayer, her Watcher, the inevitable love interest, her nemesis, and/or any other part you can think of. Then, if you’re feeling snarky, the cast you think Hollywood will pick for said roles. Go to it, people. 9 Comments
