Neil Gaiman’s 'Sandman' Optioned For Television
By Michael Darnell
on 09.02.2010
Gaiman’s creation, Sandman, often touted as one of the best examples of what a comic book can become, has been picked up by Warner Bros. for an ongoing television series. Details at this point are scarce, but Eric Kripke, the creator of popular CW show Supernatural, is the forerunner for director. Sandman was a heavily visual series that focused on fantastic settings and characters, all of which could be difficult to translate to a decent TV show. Also troubling is the fact that Gaiman, at this point, is not attached to the project. However, the source material lends itself to a storytelling format that could work in the hands of a capable crew. Once more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to post it.
