Patton Oswalt to Scribe SERENITY Comic

By Brian Kronner on 03.11.2010

From GAMMA SQUAD via MTV:

“Post-’Serenity,’ a bunch of Wash’s friends who we haven’t met on the show, they’re basically buying a new ship and christening it,” said Oswalt of how the death of Serenity’s pilot, Wash (played by Alan Tudyk), plays into the comic. “It’s called a ‘float-out’ when you christen a ship.As they’re christening a new ship, they’re telling stories about Wash, and we’re basically seeing what could be the start of a new adventure,” he said. “I talked a little bit to Joss [Whedon, Firefly creator], but I was such a huge fan of the show that I didn’t really need to talk to anybody about it. I kind of just knew it. It was very frustrating to see the show get canceled when a world was starting to come together, I just wish Fox had given it some more time, I guess.”

I love this, as I’ve already argued to Toni, FIREFLY was great. The SERENITY comics releases thus far are good and I like everything thing I’ve ever seen from Oswalt. I’ll be picking this up.

FIREFLY is the best Sci-Fi series ever released. (that's just my two cents)

Firefly is a great SF series. It's not the best ever though, in my opinion.

Star Trek holds the crown for best SF series. Not only do they have amazing stories and awesome characters, but they fit in morality tales throughout. Not to mention the variety of series which makes it difficult to say which one is the best of the Star Trek universe.

Then we must beg the question ... atheistgirl what is your personal choice for all time best?

Yeah, Never cared much for Star Trek, MUNK. ... Never cared much for "morality tales" personally though, either. ... hmmm

I'm always down for some Quantum Leap.

For me, best ever is between FIREFLY, the Original STAR TREK, (Fuck TNG) and QUANTUM LEAP.

Star Trek also had a billion years to create & cultivate their world. Firefly had the best single season of a sci fi series. I'll put it up against any other single season of a show. Quantum Leap was dope too. The series finale broke my heart.

When I say STAR TREK I mean the original 3 season run in the 60's, nothing after that. Though WRATH OF KHAN and the new movie are both excellent.

firefly - river = great. every time i saw her i fast forward, you add that character right and the show is like a live action jap cartoon, fuckin' stupid. buffy also sucked ass, angel sucked ass, the only thing i have liked that joss has had his fingers on is astonishing xmen.

that entire fuckin' show sucked ass from start to finish, just like angel, like i tried to watch angel right, but the first episode was like angel vs a bunch of zombie cops, like what in the fuck is this shit buddy? zombie cops = awesome, how the fuck did you screw this up, i can't stand the fuckin' japanese cartoon shit, super woman/character in every show, i wanna strangle that fuckin' turd joss whedon, thank god dollhouse is a failure. OH and seth green wtf, i hate that POS.

Last 2 seasons of BUFFY were fan-fucking-tastic.

My Love for Patton Oswalt is equal to my hatred of Joss Whedon, I'm completely neutral on this. And the greatest Sci-Fi show of all time was Family Matters. And Kronner, TNG fucking rocked and Buffy jumped the shark in the fourth season.

Respectfully Disagree? Why you feel the need to do so respectfully is behind me given the barely readable message that preceded. Seth Green is sweet forever because of IT if nothing else. "Beep Beep Ritchie, Beep Beep!" BUFFY, when it was first on I didn't respect, but when I went back and rematched it later I realized how deep it really was. That was a deep, great show hidden in the facade of teen camp.

I respectfully disagree. First, given you're attitude, I find it hard to believe that you actually watched all 7 seasons, so you are not really a fair judge. 2nd, Seth Green is awesome: Austin Powers, It, Robot Chicken, Greg The Bunny, Family Guy, Sex Drive, and so on and so forth. 3rdly, FIREFLY and BUFFY have cemented Whedon as legit in my mind.

JUMPED THE SHARK?!?! Season 4 was admittedly the weakest/worst season, but 5 was good and 6 & 7 were fucking great.

6&7 were fucking terrible! Mostly because Whedon was too goddamn busy making that Galaxy Rangers knockoff to pay attention to his successful shows. Although, last time I watched some Angel episodes I realized the show was pretty weak sauce, deserved a proper finale though.

I didn't watch ANGEL, but I loved the last few seasons of BUFFY, and I think FIREFLY is one of my favorite shows ever.

Didn't angel end with him fighting a dragon and spike havin a soul? I can't remember but if it did that was a shity way to end the series.

Dude, Nanchancan way to be an ass ... You can't just jump into a pool with sharks and tell them they aren't allowed to eat the chum.

I love Buffy and Angel. Season 1,2 and 5 of Angel are gold. 3&4 are bad, but have some good stuff. Buffy is pretty solid all the way through, but season 4 was the weakest by far.

Ok, I admit it, and I know you're all going to laugh at me and call me names, but my personal choice for all time best is Doctor Who. Sure Star Trek is great (60's is best) and Quantum Leap is good, and I loved Buffy, but I grew up with The Doctor and he will always be the best to me.

I'm actually surprised no one has said Dr. Who, or BSG, I've never seen an episode of either. Fun fact though, Edward James Olmos was originally offered the Captain's role in TNG, but turned it down so he could continue fucking up Miami scumbags.

BSG was great, just not the greatest.

I enjoyed Firefly. Dr. Who is a top fav. Farscape was a guilty pleasure. Heh, bald blue chicks and muppets. *ahem* The recent BSG just didn't do anything for me. I tried to like it. I really did. But after sitting through three episodes I just didn't care anymore. I am not a ST fan no matter what the series. But my #1 most awesome sci-fi series of all time? Red Dwarf.

Red Dwarf is Classic, yaguara. Good Call! I also love the campy Buck Rogers with none other than "The Fall Guy" himself ... Mr. Lee Majors!

OMG if i had billions of dollars i would give it all to someone to mutilate seth green. buffy has everything in a show i fucking hate. if it was animated i'd be locked in an insane asylum, and yes angel did end like that. angel was hilarious, show not doing so well? have a character become a supreme being by either killing another character off to give another character superpowers or have a higher being possess her, do it a total of three of times throughout the show, fuckin' hilarious.

my favorites is alien nation and V, quantum leap aint bad either.

I don't want to seem pedantic Fisticufflinks but Lee Majors wasn't in Buck Rogers. It was Gil Gerard.
