Do you know who J.J. Abrams is? Undoubtedly. How about Bong Joon-ho though? If this is a name you’re unfamiliar with, then do your love of film a favor, and look the guy up. It is rumored that the two men will be working on a project together in the near future. Abrams would produce and Bong would direct. Nothing has been confirmed so far but according to SlashFilm, Abrams apparently visited Korea last year and met extensively to discuss a possible collaboration. Abrams is one of the most sought after minds working in Hollywood today. He practically poops commercially viable and critically praised ideas. Bong, on the other hand, enjoys the macabre side of comedy and his stories often combine paradoxical elements to create strangely entertaining films. It seems like a odd pairing at first glance, but Bong’s most successful film was The Host. It was the story of a small family fighting to rescue one of their own in a trampled city that’s being terrorized by a mysterious monster. (Cloverfield anyone?) It’s absolutely boggling to consider the possibilities these two talented filmmakers could conjure up. However, since this is merely an unconfirmed rumor for now, take the time to better acquaint yourself with Bong so you can enjoy the excitement too if this does in fact come to fruition. He is a man of singular cinematic vision and Mother, his newest film, just hit the DVD shelves not too long ago. It was easily one the best films I’d seen all year. Queue it up! You won’t be disappointed. 0 CommentsYou must be a Member to post comment Click here to Login New User? Signup |
