PG-13 Punisher?

Sources from the innermost depths of Hollywood have stated that the Punisher: War Zone movie's controversy centers around the fact that Lionsgate wants to cut the movie back to a PG-13 Rating. As previously reported, Lexi Alexander has limited-to-virtually-no involvement with the film, and her blog's completely scrubbed ALL records of War Zone. Without being able to go to that source, all we have is conjecture. With that being said…

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???

How directly the FUCK are you going to have a Punisher movie that's rated PG-13? That's not even REMOTELY sane!! The Punisher comic is aimed at MATURE audiences, so how are you going to scale back the violence so it's kid friendly??? Punisher isn't Batman, or Iron Man or the Incredible FUCKING Hulk… This is not a character that they can make into cool toys for 5 year olds. Punisher is about as dark and gritty and nasty as you can get! He's an uber-violent vigilante, a soldier pushed beyond the limits, whose family's been brutally murdered, and with nothing to live for, he takes it to the streets, doling out punishment to those who would kill and destroy the halfway decent people in the world. But he's not a superhero by any means. He's a man who's had enough of the mafia and the murders and does something about it. VIOLENTLY.

The point of the violence, by the way, is not just because it looks cool (although it BETTER), but also because that's the world that he lives in…dark, gritty, bloody…There's nothing good, redeeming, or even PG-anything about the world in which Punisher is supposed to exist.

The red-band trailer that we got? …SWEET. It looked like we were FINALLY going to see a Punisher worth the name. Don't do this, Lionsgate. You'll regret it. You are NOT going to make the same money as The Dark Knight because the Punisher isn't a kid-friendly character. Trust me, you'll make an obscene amount of money if you give the ADULT fans something that suits the character. And by suit, i mean offensive amounts of blood, guts, gore, and…oh yeah, a great story too. Let's face it, Punisher fans…anyone who knows who and what the Punisher is about…they're going to DEMAND the graphic nature implied by an R-Rating. That's how the comics did it, and that's how the fans want it.
