"Conan" Writers Enter "Uncharted" Territory

The highly anticipated Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune game to movie adaptation was originally slated to be scripted by Kyle Ward, who is penning both the Hitman 2 and Kane & Lynch adaptations. That’s not happening now, as Sony wanted Uncharted sooner than Ward’s obligations would allow.

In searching for replacement writers, Sony has seemingly settled on Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the writers responsible for the Conan reboot. Director Avi Arad is attached as well.

Latinoreview.com provides the following as a synopsis for Uncharted:

"Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune"
follows fortune hunter Nathan Drake, who is a descendant of explorer
Sir Francis Drake. Believing he has learned the whereabouts of El
Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden
statue, he embarks on a journey to find it. The search becomes
competitive and dangerous when a rival hunter joins the fray and
mutated creatures begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure’s
true secrets.

Will this FINALLY be a video game movie that isn’t just adequate?

Time will tell, but at least we’re off to a promising start….
