BRAVE AND BOLD: NPH vs. Bats Again?

Anyone who has watched BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD knows 2 things.

One, they’ve found a way to make Aquaman cool, as this is far and away the best representation of Arthur I’ve ever seen.

And secondly, they make old, obscure characters interesting in a style, that while being directing towards kids, is still entertaining to adults…or at least me.

Well recently they did an episode that featured an original character. This character, Music Meister, was voiced by the great Barney Stinson, err…Neil Patrick Harris. This character seemed to be a combination of 3 different villains from the comics, at least according to Wiki:

Although he was created specifically for the series, he draws some parallels to The Fiddler. His ability to make his victims dance as well also recalls the The Maestro. He also resembles a comic villain named Johnny Dune, who appeared in only one issue of Justice League of America, able to control listeners with his voice.

Well IGN’s Eric Goldman interviewed NPH recently and asked him about his turn as a Batman villain.

"Those gigs come so randomly, you get an email or a phone call saying, ‘Would you do this voice on this show?’ And that happened a good year and a half ago. You say, ‘Sure!’ and they say, ‘Great! How about Monday at 4?’ You go in, you sing and you’re done. I mean I was out in two hours.’ So I love that a year later, Comic-Con loves it, and then it ends up being a thing. The turnaround time for those are so extensive that I think if they’re thinking about a sequel, they still have to write it, get approval for it…We probably wouldn’t see it until 2017 at the
rate they do those things."

When asked if he’d like to reprise his role as the Music Meister: "Yeah, sure I would! It was great fun."

So, NPH enjoyed his experience and is open to returning to do it again. That’s good news to me.

I realize there isn’t really much of a news story here, it’s more me probing to see what you guys think of Brave and the Bold. Below I’ve included the opening of that episode if you want to check it out.

So sound off below, fan of the show or no?

It's my current favourite T.V. show ... HANDS DOWN! I love it for it's "Zaniness"! It's like the best parts of The Venture Bros. put with Batman and the coolest Heroes and Villians from the DCU! What's not to love about the whole thing? NOTHING!

I watch ALOT of animated shows. I fucking HATE Batman Brave and the Bold, lol. This is the most annoying show on tv. I hope it gets cancelled and some other batman show comes on. Bring back "The Batman"

Or at the very least, change Batman's voice. I can't stand hearing Oswald as Bats.

MUNKRAWK just don't watch it. Problem solved. Don't wish other peoples favorite shows off the air just because you are a little too selfish. I don't see what's not to like. But everyone has different opinions and tastes and you are entitled to yours, surely. Let me keep the show though. I don't want it cancelled. As I've previously stated ... it's my favorite show.

I don't want it off the air simply because I don't like it, but it has to be cancelled in order for another Batman series to air. Kronner, why did you hate "The Batman"? It had everything.

I didn't like "The Batman" either ... I thought the art direction was aweful.

Yeah, if by everything you mean a Joker that looked like Blanka from Street Fighter and the stupid Penguin portrayal. I hated the art and many of the voices.

Theme Music was pretty good. Brave and The Bolds Theme is superior though.

much like the Brave and the Bold, i think Marvel's Superhero Squad show pulled off the made-for-kids/funny-for-adults kinda deal in a different manner. similarly, they've taken the liberty of making minor changes to things, such as omitting the characters' secret identities for the most part. the Superhero Squad has a kind of Spongebob humor. but i believe both of these shows are a great way to introduce kids to comic mythology, while still entertaining their die-hard mothers' and fathers'.

I am sorry but Batman Brave and the Bold is much better than the Super hero squad. I watched one show and could not watch any more. Making cute versions of Marvel heros and Villians does not work it just silly. I know its for little kids but I just dont like it at all.

i saw my first episode last night. it featured 'Red Tornado'... reminded me of Steel. The World Famous 'Red Tornado'. Brave and the Bold is inspired. Beyond fans will probably not like it.
