DETECTIVE Cover Tourney…

Ok, so just like with the UNCANNY Tourney, we’re gonna try to determine a fan favorite among the DECTECTIVE COMICS covers. We’ll pick a winner here based upon your votes, so please do vote in the comment section below.

Detective has a lot more issues than Uncanny had, so I went with 64 in the opening round this time.

Thanks to Skott, Supascoot, Toni, and Erika for the help with the rankings.

Ok, so I'll start. First the criteria I used. Just like with the X-Men I am judging the stand alone art of the cover itself only. I am also pretending that I have been living under a rock my entire life and know nothing about the characters or the stories themselves. I am imagining that I am seeing these covers all together now for the first time ever. So, I am not giving any "grandfather points" for how cool the cover would have been when it was first released.

So here are my picks: 1, I can't stand 2 or 64 but if I have to choose one I'll go with 2. I generally don't like dialogue on a cover. 62 4, 5, and 6 cuz they're "artsy." 7 or 58 is tough. I like both but I'll go with 58 for the violence and the crazed look in Batman's eyes. I like both 8 and 57 too but for different reasons. I'll go with 8 cuz of sex appeal. 9, 10, 54, and 53. 13 cuz 52 is just stupid (my opinion), 14, 50, 16, 48, 18, 46, 20, 44, 22, 42, 24, 25, 26, 27, 37, 36, 35, 34, 32.

You know, going through these covers made me realize that we got some really awesome Detective covers during the 90's

Is it possible you left out the most iconic cover in Detective Comics history? Where's 31?

chilly I would have to argue that either 69 or 71 are more Iconic and neither of them made the list either ... so we should just roll with what the team made for us and count our blessings that we even get this.

Guys, Iconic has nothing to do with it, it's purely an art thing... 64,2,62,61,5,6,7,57,9,10,54,53,13,51,50,16,17,18,46,20,44,22,42,41,25,39,38,28,29,35,34, and 33.

Obviously ... Norman ... that's why I wasn't worried about it. I find it odd that you feel the need to say that especially when I already wrote about that on my choices post.

Woah there Fisty, don't get your tampon in a twist. Maybe that was directed at Chilly. You since Chilly didn't even vote and just complained about the choices and all. I can't believe how defensive everyone is on here.

Norman there is no, "Whoah thereing ..." It wasn't directed at Chilly. It was directed at "Guys". Your choice of word. If you choose to direct something at someone then do it up properly. Defensiveness is human and is something that a grown person does when faced with being treated as a child ... which you did. ... And your "tampon in a twist" comment is certainly nothing becoming. Just try being more comment saavy. It works better, I find.
