With two Alien prequels, a Monopoly movie, and the YouTube movie already on his plate, when does Ridley Scott find time to sleep? It would seem that he doesn’t because science fiction fans across the web were treated to some fantastic news when author Joe Haldeman revealed Ridley Scott would be reteaming with Blade Runner scribe, David Peoples, to adapt his 1974 novel The Forever War. While still technically true, the excitement has been tempered slightly by other reports stating Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play, World War Z) has replaced Peoples as the writer on the project. For those unfamiliar with Haldeman’s novel, the story revolves around and interstellar war waged between humans a recondite species known as the Taurans. It’s a bit disappointing to hear that Peoples in no longer the writer responsible, but early indications are that the script is in capable hands considering Carnahan has just finished World War Z. It sure would have been nice to see what Scott and Peoples could have accomplished together again though. Blade Runner was a landmark film in the genre and I remember being blown away by the thought that it’s been almost thirty years since it was first released. 1 Comments
