Superman Not Heading Into Theatres Anytime Soon

MTV caught up with Diane Nelson, the new head of DC Entertainment, and discussed the effects of the recent restructuring and how this affected the DC movie slate. The conversation, quite expectedly, turned to Superman. When asked if the shake-up (and the recent court decision) meant a Superman movie would be more likely to happen now, Nelson replied that "We actually don’t have any current plans for Superman." This seems to have taken MTV’s writer aback, as Nelson was quick to not only repeat her previous statement, but also defend the character and his importance to the company. "We’ve obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history," she said. "And it’s a key part of the family, but we don’t have current plans behind Superman." Weird, right? Not doing anything with a flagship character that you’re going to be financially penalized for not making a movie with doesn’t seem logical. On the other hand, Nelson did give a pretty great quote regarding Ryan Reynolds, and if he can play both Hal Jordan and Deadpool, "Ryan Reynolds can be anything he wants to be."
