Thor Has Been Chosen!

So, does anyone know if Star Trek was any good? More specifically, does anyone know if Kirk’s dad was any good? The reason I’m asking, besides that I haven’t seen it? Cause he’s gonna be the new Thor. Really? I mean, don’t get me wrong; like I said, I have no idea whether or not Chris Hemsworth can act, which is at least mildly important, but the story of how he got the part, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily, isn’t comforting in the least: apparently, Hemsworth had gotten cut by a casting director the first time he read for the part, after which his younger brother Liam tested as well before getting kicked to the curb by Marvel’s President of Production Kevin Feige, who decided to give Chris another shot after getting convinced by Chris’s manager William Ward, which led to Feige and Thor director Kenneth Branagh seeing the tape and deciding on the older Hemsworth. I’ve got a couple of opinions on this - on the plus side, Hemsworth is supposedly a pretty big dude (6’3", approx. 200 lbs.), which is important when you’re playing the Norse god of storms and war. Plus, if he’s an Aussie, hopefully he’ll be able to pull together some sort of "foreign-sounding" accent together (not quite sure how Australian sounds in comparison with Scandanavian, but still). On the other hand…who the hell is Chris Hemsworth? It’s a legitimate question; not because you can’t have an unknown playing a relatively iconic role - I actually prefer it in most instances - but because if it turns out he sucks, it’s going to be even more noticeable next to experienced actors like Josh Hartnett and Natalie Portman, who’ve been getting name-dropped a lot as pre-production keeps rolling along. Although Hemsworth is set to star in the Joss Whedon horror flick The Cabin in the Woods and an upcoming remake of Red Dawn(?!?) so at least he’s getting his geek credentials in order. But does this guy look like Thor?
I’m not sure just yet. But you know what? It’s done; Hemsworth IS Thor, short of an actual confirmation, which is supposedly coming Monday, and they could’ve done a lot worse (remember when Triple-H was supposed to get the part?), so personally I’m just gonna move on to my next Thor question - who’s going to be Dr. Donald Blake? 0 CommentsYou must be a Member to post comment Click here to Login New User?
